The Family Cafe is pleased to announce that the new website for CAN, the Change Agent Network, is now up and running!

The idea behind CAN is that many voices, speaking together, can make a greater difference than any number of voices can on their own. By combining our efforts and speaking with a single voice, we can more effectively advocate for persons with disabilities in Florida, raise awareness and focus the public conversation on the issues that have the greatest impact on our daily lives.

Hurricane season is upon us once again, and there's no time like the present to make sure you, your loved ones, friends and neighbors are ready.

 Here are a few simple steps you can take to prepare:

1. Create a disaster plan and gather supplies for your disaster kit now.
2. Plan for any special health care needs by gathering a sufficient supply of medications, medical equipment and other related necessities.
3. Have a plan for your escape route and a plan for your pets.
4. Check your insurance coverage.
5. Stock non-presishable food and water.
6. Check your battery supply, especially for smoke detectors, flashlights and portable radios.
