The Family Cafe is pleased to announce that the new website for CAN, the Change Agent Network, is now up and running!

The idea behind CAN is that many voices, speaking together, can make a greater difference than any number of voices can on their own. By combining our efforts and speaking with a single voice, we can more effectively advocate for persons with disabilities in Florida, raise awareness and focus the public conversation on the issues that have the greatest impact on our daily lives.

Pareciera que ésta va a ser otra temporada larga de huracanes aquí en la Florida, y es el mejor momento para asegurarse de que usted, sus seres queridos, amigos y vecinos se encuentran preparados. Les mostramos algunos pasos simples que puede seguir para prepararse:

1. Cree un plan para el desastre y reúna aquellos artículos necesarios para tal caso.

2. Planificar para cada necesidad especial de cuidado medico uniendo suficientes medicamentos, equipos médicos y otros artículos asociados.

3. Tenga un plan para su ruta de escape y un plan para sus mascotas.

4. Revise la cobertura de su seguro.

5. Acumule alimentos no perecederos.

6. Revise las baterías, especialmente las de los detectores de humo, linternas y radios portátiles.
